Amy Winehouse – Love Is a Losing Game Video and Lyrics

Love Is a Losing Game by Amy Winehouse, Music Video, Lyrics and Review

“Love Is A Losing Game” is a song written and recorded by English singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse for her second album Back to Black. The track was chosen as the fifth, and likely final, single from the album. The single is more reminiscent of material from her debut album Frank. The single is scheduled for release on December 10, 2007 in the United Kingdom. The song was added to BBC Radio 1’s playlist on 7 November 2007.

The single follows the November 5th release of Amy’s dvd I Told You I Was Trouble, the deluxe version of Back To Black.

According to The Sun newspaper, Amy did not turn up for the filming of her latest video “Love Is a Losing Game,” possibly causing the release date to be pushed back.

The official video for “Love Is A Losing Game” is a live performance.

Amy Winehouse – Love Is a Losing Game Lyrics

For you I was a flame,

Love is a losing game

Five story fire as you came,

Love is losing game

One I wish I never played,

Oh, what a mess we made

And now the final frame,

Love is a losing game

Played out by the band,

Love is a losing hand

More than I could stand,

Love is a losing hand

Self professed profound

Til’ the chips were down

Know you’re a gambling man

Love is a losing hand

Tho’ I battled blind,

Love is a fate resigned

Memories mar my mind,

Love it is a fate resigned

Over futile odds,

And laughed at by the Gods

And now the final frame,

Love is a losing game

Amy Winehouse – Love Is a Losing Game Review

The initial response to London songstress Amy Winehouse marked her as yet another in the batch of sultry 21st-century British neo-jazz divas. Although the tag may have been beneficial in terms of press coverage, it was misleading; unlike the inoffensive Katie Melua and Joss Stone, Winehouse had no fear of displaying the seamier side of her life. Her debut album–the aptly titled FRANK–was a gritty and streetwise collection of jazz-inflected pop, but it was the 2006 follow-up, BACK TO BLACK, that really set her apart. Displaying the marked influence of 1960s soul music, Phil Spector girl groups, and classic Motown, the album also boasted clever, sexually explicit lyrics and punchy pop arrangements, all pulled together by Winehouse’s superb vocal talent.
