We No Speak Americano is a song by Australian band Yolanda be Cool and fellow Australian producer DCUP.
Hailing from Sydney and signed to the seminal sweat it out! label, Yolanda Be Cool and DCup have each established cult followings over the past year thanks to a series of prolific and amazing remixes and EP releases. “We No Speak Americano” is their first collaboration and needless to say, it has become mind-bogglingly massive and solidified them as some of the biggest DJs / producers in the country.
The song samples “Tu vuò fà l’americano” (You want to be American) a Neapolitan language song by Italian singer Renato Carosone. Carosone wrote the song in 1956 together with Nicola “Nisa” Salerno. Combining swing and jazz, it became one of his best known songs.
